WHAT WE DO.
Stand Tall, Inc. provides physical therapy and health related services to the homeless community of New York City. Sam Flax, a licensed physical therapist in New York State, founded the program with the intention to provide high quality care to those in need. As the recent research has shown, homelessness has reached the highest levels since the great depression, where physical therapy services geared towards treating orthopedic impairments are almost totally absent. Stand Tall, Inc. works within long-term homeless shelters to allow for residents to improve their daily functioning through evidence-based physical therapy interventions along with group classes to enhance physical outcomes.
WHO WE DO IT FOR.
Individuals residing within the long-term and transitional housing shelters of NYC may apply for treatment. All potential Clients must undergo a thorough screening process where prior life choices are evaluated in depth. This in turn guarantees safety and order within the shelters. The Clients that access Stand Tall Inc. are dedicated to bettering their lives and ensuring that their highest level of physical function can be attained.
WHY WE DO IT.
As recent research has shown, homelessness has reached the highest levels since the great depression. While almost all social and rehabilitative services are currently available to the ever-growing homeless population, physical therapy treatment continues to be virtually non-existent.
